COVID19 CHANGED OUR PLANS, BUT IT WON'T STOP US!
Due to COVID19, we decided to adjust our business plan. We started planning our coffee shop at the end of 2019 (before the Coronavirus outbreak) in the traditional way of seeking loans/investors. We decided instead to self-fund and grow our business debt-free. That means starting small, and in three phases.
The main reason for growing debt-free is that we don't want to ever be in a position of having to furlough our team members if we should face another major catastrophe like the Coronavirus. We've seen so many friends and acquaintances in the restaurant industry have to make those difficult decisions. We also made a commitment from the start to support organizations who work to end hunger here in our community and around the world. By keeping our overhead as low as possible and adding multiple streams of income, hopefully we will be prepared to weather any storm.

PHASE ONE:
We are currently in Phase One. We're working feverishly in our test kitchen tasting coffees, dialing them in, developing homemade syrups and milks and buying equipment. Once "Shelter-in-place" is relaxed a bit more, we'll start booking Home Tasting Parties. In these parties we'll refine our process and get valuable feedback from party guests. We'll also share our vision for Ohana Coffee co. and hopefully get a few people to join our Ohana by supporting us financially on GoFundMe.
Believe it or not, starting a coffee business isn't cheap. For example, a quality coffee cart starts at $2,000 and professional coffee grinders start around $2,000 each. And there's a lot more equipment we need, permits, certifications, etc.
If you are interested in how you can support us please visit our GoFundMe page. Or, if you would like to host a Home Tasting Party, click book your event below.

PHASE TWO:
In Phase Two we will have our process down, but more importantly we'll have our custom coffee cart. With the cart we will be able to cater events for companies, clubs and all kinds of organizations and private parties. Of course, we'll be donating a portion of our sales all along the way, but we'll also be saving to fulfill our family dream of owning a brick-and-mortar coffee shop.
The coffee shop will cost at least $200,000 to open. Based on our progress, we may open up a second round of crowdfunding to help us reach that goal.

PHASE THREE:
Phase Three will be our most exciting. This is when we'll be getting close to our financial goal and starting to seriously plan. Including things like finding the right location, negotiating the lease, designing the interior and purchasing equipment. By now, we should have a great following within the community and plenty of support from local coffee lovers who can't wait for us to bring our culture and our coffee to a physical space.
